First-time log in

Depending on how you registered, follow one of these steps to log in to Online for Business for the first time.

  • Before you start, you’ll need:

    • Your username – we posted or emailed this to you.
    • Temporary password – you should have got this by post or email.
    • Your mobile phone with the number you gave us when you registered.
    • If you already use online banking with another Lloyds account (personal or business), you can use your existing username and password.

We’ll send you a card, card reader and a PIN by post. Once received, follow the ‘Using your card reader for the first time’ steps below.

How to log in for the first time

    1. Go to the Product Hub by clicking the link in the email we sent you.  It's called 'Welcome to Online for Business’.
    2. Put in your email address.
    3. We'll send you an email and a text with a one-time passcode in them.  Put these into the screen.
    4. Select on the 'Start activation' link.
    5. Follow all the steps that come up.
    6. Go to the Online for Business login page and log in.

How to log in with card, reader and PIN

If you already use online banking with another Lloyds account (personal or business), you can complete steps 1 and 2 then go to step 5.

    1. Go to the Online for Business login page
    2. Enter your username (if you already use online banking, use your existing username; if we’ve sent you a different one, call 0345 072 5555).
    3. You may be asked for your temporary password, and then you’ll need to create your own password.
    4. Create your memorable information (used for identification when you log in).
    5. Use your card and reader: check the last 5 digits of the card match those on the login screen. Insert your card and press ‘Identify’. Enter the PIN we sent, and press ‘Enter’.
    6. Enter the 8-digit number from the card reader into the login page and press ‘Continue’.  If it doesn’t work first time, repeat steps 5 and 6.

When you’ll use your card reader

We’ll ask you to use your card reader in three ways when you’re online:

    • To help confirm your identity
    • When setting up new recipients
    • When making a first payment to a new recipient.

We’ll tell you each time you need to use it with simple on-screen instructions. It doesn’t hold any personal information about you.

You don’t need to connect it to a computer.

Before you start, you’ll need:

  • Your username – we either posted or emailed it to you.
  • Your card reader – we posted it to you (it can take up to 10 working days to arrive).
  • Authentication or Business Debit Card – we posted it to you. You can also use any other Lloyds personal or business cards you have.
  • PIN – we posted it to you.
  • Temporary password – we texted it to you.

If you already use online banking with another Lloyds account (personal or business), you should use the same login details for the new business.

A new way to log in: Passkeys

We’re introducing passkeys as a new way to log in to Online for Business on the web. They’re being rolled out gradually, so you may not see this option straight away. We’ll let you know as soon as it’s available for you.

With a passkey, you can log in quickly and securely without needing your card and reader.

We are starting with Windows devices (e.g. a laptop running Windows) and will roll out to other operating systems in the future.

This will not affect how you log in to the mobile app.

Why use a passkey?

Quicker access
Log in in seconds using your face, fingerprint or device PIN.

No card and reader
Access your accounts where you are, without extra devices

Simple to use
No codes to enter and no long passwords to remember

Secure by design
Your passkey stays on your device, helping to protect you from fraud

Getting started
We’ll invite you to set up a passkey when it’s available to you.

When you’ll use a passkey

Once you have enrolled for a passkey, you’ll be asked to log in to Online for Business using your face, fingerprint or device PIN.

We’ll be rolling out passkeys for other tasks and will let you know when this is available.

Security

For your safety

We’ll never call you to ask for your card reader or request any codes generated by it. You should never share any codes or PINs with anyone.

Make sure no one is watching you when you enter your PIN into the card reader or when you input passcodes into the Online for Business screens.

Your card reader creates a new passcode each time you use it. This means you won’t need to remember or write any of them down.

Trusting the browser on your device

When you use Online for Business for a while, we'll ask you to trust the browser on your device. This feature improves security and makes logging in faster.

You'll only need to enter some characters from your memorable information. You won't need to use your card and reader.

But this trusted status won't apply to other devices. You'll need to agree to this on each device you use.

First-time log in FAQs

  • Password managers can help you create strong passwords, but sometimes they don’t meet our criteria. For example, they may include a special character that we don’t allow.

If this happens, we’ll show an on-screen error message to help you correct it.

Keep in mind, you’ll need to save the final password in your password manager when prompted for future logins.

  • If you clicked through the email link, you’ll need:

    1. Your username.  We’ll send this to you in the post or by email
    2. Your password – we texted this to you
    3. Your mobile phone with the number you gave us when you registered

If you applied with the registration form, you’ll need:

    1. Your username.  We’ll send this to you in the post or by email
    2. A card reader.  We’ll post this to you so give it 7 to 10 working days to arrive.  You can use a card reader from other business accounts you have with us
    3. An authentication card or Business Debit card.  We’ll post this to you so allow up to 7 to 10 working days for it to arrive.  You can also use other debit cards you have with us
    4. A PIN.  We’ll post this to you.  Give it up to 7 to 10 working days to arrive
  • If you have allowed up to 10 working days to receive what’s needed, please call us on 0345 072 5555, or (+44) 1733 347 338 from abroad.  Lines are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, and Saturday, 9am to 2pm, excluding bank holidays.

  • Yes, if you use Lloyd’s internet banking for your personal accounts, you can log in to Online for Business using your personal Internet Banking details.

You will also be able to use your Personal or Business Banking Debit Card in your card reader - just remember the last 5 digits of the card must match the digits shown on the screen. Click in the box and amend if needed.

  • If you don’t know your PIN, you’ll need to call us to order a new one. Call us on 0345 072 5555, or (+44) 1733 347 338 from abroad.  Lines are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, and Saturday 9am to 2pm.  This excludes bank holidays.

If you know the PIN but it’s not working, you’ll need to unlock your PIN.

    To do this:

    1. Visit a Lloyds Bank or Bank of Scotland Cashpoint
    2. Select ‘Pin services’ then ‘Unlock PIN’
    3. Follow the on-screen guidance to unlock the PIN

This can only be done at UK ATMs; if you are outside of the UK, you'll need to call us and we'll order a new PIN for you. Call us on (+44) 1733 347 338 from abroad.  Lines are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, and Saturday 9am to 2pm.  This excludes bank holidays.

  • Call us on 0345 072 5555 or (+44) 1733 347 338 from abroad.  Lines are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, and Saturday, 9am to 2pm, excluding bank holidays.

  • You’ll need to apply for each business separately via the Register for Online for Business page. You must use the username you currently use.

New accounts that sit within businesses that have already been registered for will automatically be available to view when you log in.

  • To increase the size of display, simply click on the '0' button on your reader.  This will increase the size of the information displayed.

  • You can use your card reader to reset your password or memorable information by following the on-screen instructions.

  • You should be able to use any other UK bank card reader with your card in the same way. The card reader holds no personal information about you, so as long as you have your card and PIN, you should still be able to generate passcodes with any reader. If you don’t have access to another card reader call the Internet Banking helpline on 0345 072 5555.

  • Passkey is a modern, password-less authentication method. It is an encrypted digital key created on your device (e.g. your laptop). Passkeys are faster, simpler and more secure way to log in to websites.

A passkey is made of two unique keys. One half of the Passkey is stored on your device, and the other half is stored with the website owner (Lloyds).

  • You can use your passkey to securely log in to Online for Business on the web.

  • In some organisations, devices may be shared, but each user has their own unique username and login details (rather than a shared account).

Before creating a passkey on a shared device, we recommend checking your organisation’s IT policies to make sure this is allowed.

When you create a passkey for Online for Business, you confirm that only you will have access to your account.

A passkey should not be created on a public device.

  • Yes. A passkey is made of two unique keys. One half of the Passkey is stored on your device, called the private key. The other half is stored with Lloyds, called the public key.

To authenticate with passkey, both the public and private keys are required at the same time.

If you lose your device, call us and we’ll delete the public key we hold for you. Once the public key is deleted, the private key (on your device) will no longer work.

  • Passkeys will be available on Windows devices first (e.g. a laptop running Windows). If you’re using a different operating system (e.g. iOS on a Mac), you’ll be able to use passkeys in the future as we expand support.

  • Passkey enrolment can fail for a couple of reasons:

    • Saved to the wrong place
When prompted, make sure you select 'This Windows device'.

Saving your passkey to another device or a security key may stop enrolment from completing.

    • Device settings not enabled
Check your device settings and make sure 'Save passkey to this Windows device' is turned on.

You can usually find this under Settings > Accounts > Passkeys > Advanced options.
