Public liability

When accidents happen, your business could be responsible for paying compensation under many circumstances. Public liability insurance can cover compensation and claimants costs in respect of accidental injury to third parties or damage to their property.

Public liability insurance can also cover an accident in your work area or relating to your business activities. This includes incidents on your premises as well as those that occur while doing business offsite.

Employers’ liability

Covers legal liability for death or injury to employees caused in the course of their employment.

Products liability

Provides cover for compensation for injury and property damage to third parties caused by products that you design, manufacture or supply.

Business equipment

It’s important to consider cover for business equipment used in the day to day operation of your business both whilst at your home premises and also potentially whilst you are out on the road visiting suppliers or customers.

Loss or damage to your computer equipment by theft for example would be provided under the business equipment section of your policy.

Goods in transit

When either collecting stock from suppliers, or delivering stock/finished goods to your end customer, there is a possibility that these items may be damaged or lost whilst in transit.

Goods in transit cover will provide you with cover for loss or damage to these items during transit minimising the financial impact this occurrence could have on your business.

Please note this is not a comprehensive list. Additional covers are available to ensure your business is suitably protected.

Many businesses run from home rely on standard home insurance to protect the risks they face. However, it is unlikely that your home insurance policy will cover your business equipment, materials, stock or activities that you perform.
