Yes. With £12,000 of eligible spend (see ‘Avios explained’ for definitions of eligible spend) in one year, you can get a companion ticket and bring someone with you on your next flight. The year begins from the date your Premier Avios Rewards credit card account is opened, and each subsequent year starts on that anniversary. Eligible spend only begins accruing for one year from that date. You can only receive one companion ticket per year, and can only use one companion ticket per booking. Once you’ve received your companion ticket for that year, you won’t begin accumulating eligible spend until the next year rolls around.
You will be notified around four weeks after reaching the minimum eligible spend threshold. Once notified, you have 12 months to use your companion ticket. You can use it for flights or Eurostar bookings. You must book your trip fully using Avios (bookings paid partly or fully in cash are excluded).
Flights must be booked online at www.avios.com/uk. You can use your companion ticket on selected routes with British Airways, Flybe, Aer Lingus, Monarch, and Aurigny, when used in conjunction with an economy class booking (although routes and airlines are subject to change and availability). Your companion must accompany you on the flight, and must travel to the same destination as you. Airline taxes, fees, and charges apply on all tickets booked, including the companion ticket. Eurostar bookings must be made over the phone by calling 0844 4933399 (call costs vary). The companion ticket is to accompany standard-class only bookings on routes from the UK to Paris, Brussels, and Lille. Onward travel is not included. Credit cards are designed to be a flexible form of borrowing. Paying the minimum amount every so often can help you manage your money more effectively, although we would not recommend that you make minimum payments for a long period of time once your promotional offers have ended.
