About the Islamic Account

Following the guidance of Islam is an important part of everyday life, so we've made it an important part of everyday banking. Our Shariah committee of two independent scholars has guided us to create an account that’s right for you.

Let us take the stress out of changing banks

Whether you want to move to Lloyds Bank or you already bank with us and want to open a new account, switching is easy. Our dedicated welcome team will do everything they can to help your switch run smoothly, including transferring all your Direct Debits and standing orders to your new account for you.

We will:

  • Contact your other bank for a list of your Direct Debits and standing orders.
  • Tell you when your transfer is due to complete.
  • Set up your standing orders and ask your service providers to start claiming your Direct Debits from your Lloyds Bank account after your transfer date.
  • Keep you informed of how your switch is progressing and let you know what you need to do and when.

What you’ll need

You can use the following documents as proof of your identity:

  • UK/EEA/EU passport
  • UK/EEA/EU photo driving licence. Driving licences that don’t have a photo are not acceptable
  • EU/EEA National Identity Card
  • Northern Ireland Voters Card
  • Young Scot Card (under 18s only). This can be accepted at all branches
  • Firearms or shotgun licence

Passports from the following countries, with a valid visa, are also acceptable as a form of identity:



Hong Kong


New Zealand


South Africa


Other acceptable proofs of identity

If you can’t provide one of the documents above, you’ll need to show:

  • one document as proof of your identity
  • an additional document as proof of your address. These can be:

Proof of identity:

  • benefits or state pension notification letter
  • current UK non-photo driving licence
  • blue disabled driver pass
  • all other current signed passports with valid UK visa not listed above
  • UK Birth Certificate (under 18s only)
  • National Insurance Card (under 18s only)
  • Medical card/certificate (under 18s only)

Proof of address:

  • bank, building society or  credit union statement (we do not accept statements printed from the Internet)
  • current UK non-photo driving licence (only if it is not been used as your proof of identification)
  • utility bill/utility statement or certificate/letter from a supplier of utilities dated within the last three months
  • local authority tax bill/council tax bill for current year
  • benefits or pensions notification letter confirming the right to benefit (only if it has not been used as your proof of identification)
