  • Planned Overdraft

    You can apply for an interest and fee-free tiered Planned Overdraft of up to žŒ£1,500. In your first year of study you could get up to £500ž‰†† for the first six months, and then ask us to increase it to £1,000††† in months seven to nine. From month 10Œ† until the end of your third year you can ask for another increase to £1ž,500‰††. If you’re studying on a course that is longer than three years, you can request to increase it to £2,000 from year four onwards, should you need it.

  • Student credit card

    You can also apply for a Lloyds Bank Student credit card, with a credit limit of at least £500, to help you spread costs for large purchases. Representative 19.9% APR (variable).

  • Free NUS extra card

    Enjoy an NUS extra card absolutely free for up to three years, giving you access to over 170 discounts on the high street and online.

  • Free everyday banking

    Stay in credit and you won’t have to pay monthly fees. Bank your way with Internet Banking, Telephone Banking, Mobile Banking, in-branch, and also get free Text Alerts.

  • Eligibility criteria

    To apply for a Planned Overdraft or Lloyds Bank Student credit card, you must be 18 or over.

  • Overdrafts and credit cards

    All overdrafts are subject to our assessment of your circumstances and are repayable on demand.

The overdraft interest rate on the next £300 will be 8.21% EAR variable and a monthly overdraft usage fee of £6 will apply.

Planned Overdraft

  • Setting up a Planned Overdraft is free.
  • In your first year, you can apply for a Planned Overdraft where there is an interest and fee-free amount of up to:
    • £500 for the first 6 months,

We have experienced relationship managers based throughout the UK who can arrange to meet you at your convenience at your home, your office, your local Lloyds Bank branch or one of our Private Banking offices. So, if you have at least £250,000 in savings and investments or a sole annual income of at least £100,000, we’d welcome the chance to meet with you and discuss your unique financial needs.

How do I get my free NUS extra card?
To benefit from the free NUS extra card offer, all you need to do is open your Student Account between 01/08/2015–11/10/2015. We’ll then write to you with your unique promotional code and details of how to apply for your first free card. Letters will be sent out at the beginning of September or within 15 days of opening your account if you open it after this time.
After you’ve applied for your card you’ll immediately be able to access the online NUS extra discounts in the “Track my Card” section and under ”My Account” at www.nus.org.uk. You’ll be able to access the full range of discounts once your card arrives which will be sent out to you by the NUS within 7-10 working days.
What should I do if I don’t receive or lose my promotional code letter?
Providing you open a Student Account between the 01/08/2015–11/10/2015 you will be sent a unique promotional code to claim your first free NUS extra card. Letters will be sent at the beginning of September or within 15 days of account opening if you open your account after this time. If you have lost or not received your promotional code letter you can contact us in branch or by phone to be reminded of your code. You will need to claim your first free card by 31/12/2015.
How do I register for my first free NUS extra card?
Full details of what you need to do to claim your first free NUS extra card will be detailed in the letter we send you. To claim your first free NUS extra card you’ll need to follow the instructions in the letter and ensure you apply for your card by 31/12/2015.
When is my NUS extra card valid until?
All NUS extra cards issued as part of our Student Account offer are valid until 30 September annually regardless of when you apply for your card.
How do I renew my free NUS extra card?
Providing you previously registered for a free NUS extra card by 31st December and you still hold your Student Account you will receive a renewal email from the NUS which will contain full details on how to renew your card for the second or third time. The NUS will send your renewal email to the email address you provided to them when you registered for your first free card. Emails will be sent out in September and follow-up reminders until the end of December.
To ensure you are able to benefit from the offer for up to three years you’ll need to use the unique promotional code allocated to you each year. If you don’t do this, you will not be eligible to renew your card in subsequent years.
What should I do if I don’t receive of lose my NUS renewal email?
If you don’t receive a renewal email from the NUS within 10 days of the end of September, please ensure you check your spam/junk mail folders. If you still can’t find it, please contact the NUS who will be able to help providing you are eligible to renew your NUS extra card for a further year.


Switching made easy

Switching with us

We can move your current account to a Lloyds Bank Student Account in just seven working days. Your standing orders and Direct Debits will be automatically transferred to your new account. All you have to do is let us know the date you want to be switched and provide details of the account you want to switch from.

Current accounts and services are offered subject to your status. They are available only to personal customers who are aged over 18, are resident in the UK, and are either an EU national or have permission to stay in the UK for at least 12 months.

Pop into any Lloyds Bank branch and our staff will be happy to help. You’ll need to bring your UCAS confirmation letter or a letter from your university or college confirming your place.

If you aren’t already a Lloyds Bank current account holder, you’ll also need to bring your ID, such as a passport or driving licence, and proof of address, such as a utility bill (not a mobile phone bill) that’s dated within the last three months.

  • you’re studying full-time on an eligible course of at least two years' duration, or a one-year full-time access course leading to a degree.
