Paying your credit card by debit card

How to use debit cards to make payments.

1. Select 'Pay & transfer'

You'll find this at the bottom of your app screen.

2. Select ‘From’ followed by 'Debit Card'

Then select ‘To’ followed by the Credit Card you wish to pay.

3. Enter the amount

Then check the details before selecting ‘Confirm.’ You will then be handed over to our payment approval process.

4. Enter your debit card details

Then check the details before submitting for approval.

If you wish to save these details for future use, just tick the box when prompted.

5. All done

Once approved you will receive confirmation and the approximate amount of time it will take to update your balance.

Keep in mind...

  • If you have a Direct Debit set up and are making additional payments to your account during the month we may still collect your Direct Debit in full.
 
Timings:
  • Debit card payments should reach your Lloyds Bank credit card account by the next working day.
  • You can only make one debit card payment per day to your credit card. You can use one of our other ways to pay if you need to make more than one payment per day.

Key points about credit card payments

  • You can make payments to your credit card account at any time, but you need to pay at least the minimum amount shown on your statement each month. 
  • If you can't pay the whole statement balance, it's a good idea to pay as much as you can, as it may help to keep any interest costs down.
  • If you only make the minimum payment each month, it'll take longer and cost you more to pay off your balance.
  • If you miss a payment, you are likely to be charged a late fee and damage your credit rating. You could also lose any promotional rates on your credit card and have to pay the standard interest rate instead.
  • Set up a regular Direct Debit payment and we’ll automatically claim your selected payment amount when it’s due. 
  • You can also make payments, instead or in addition to a Direct Debit, from a bank account, with a debit card, by cheque or with cash at a branch. 
  • If you choose to make one-off payments, just make sure that the method you use will get your payment to us on time. 
  • You can request to change your payment due date to better suit your needs, e.g. if you usually receive your salary later than your due date falls. The fastest way to do this is through Internet Banking on a laptop or desktop computer. From your credit card account summary, select ‘More actions’, then ‘Paying your credit card’, then 'Request payment due date change'.

There are a number of ways to pay your credit card.

Mobile Banking: We don’t charge you for Internet Banking but your mobile operator may charge for some services, please check with them. Services may be affected by phone signal and functionality. You must be registered for Internet Banking.

Mobile Banking app: Our Mobile Banking app is available to Internet Banking customers with a UK personal account and valid registered phone number. Our app is available to iPhone and Android users only and minimum operating systems apply, so check the App Store or Google Play for details. Our app does not work on jailbroken or rooted devices. Device registration required.
