Paper-free is a way that you can receive electronic statements and/or correspondence for eligible credit cards, current accounts and savings accounts.
It's the secure and convenient way to cut down on your filing and find the information you need in one central place – to view, print and download whenever you need to.
If you don't choose to go paper-free, you will still receive paper copies.
It's now even easier to print your online statements:
You can search your current account statements going back 10 years.
You can view your latest statements as well as historical statements back to November 2012.
You can view your latest statements as well as historical statements back to April 2014.
Your Digital Inbox is where you will receive electronic versions of the correspondence that you would normally receive in the post.
If you opt into online correspondence we will stop sending certain letters by post and send you an email when you receive a new item in your Digital Inbox.
The online version will look exactly the same as the correspondence you receive in the post.
You can view your statement online at any time by logging on to Internet Banking. You can use the online search function to view and print your statements.
Your account statements will be displayed in HTML format.

Your account statements will be displayed as PDF (Portable Document Format) files.
You can view your correspondence online at any time by logging on to Internet Banking. Your correspondence will be displayed as PDF documents in your Digital Inbox, which you reach via the Account Overview page.
You can use your Digital Inbox to view, organise and print selected correspondence.
We’ll also display your annual summaries, historical fees and interest rates documents in HTML format in your personal account area.
We’ll provide your annual interest summaries and pre-notifications of charges as PDF documents in your Digital Inbox.
The correspondence we send will also include changes to your account terms and conditions, overdraft agreements and other letters about any overdraft you may have.
If you’re paper-free for correspondence only you’ll receive postal copies of your historical fees and interest rates documents. We’ll provide your annual summaries,
annual interest summaries and pre-notifications of charges as PDF documents in your Digital Inbox.
If you choose paper-free statements you’ll receive your annual statements as PDF documents in your personal account area.
You will receive Notices of Sums in Arrears online as PDF documents in your Digital Inbox.
You’ll receive online documents relating to your credit card in PDF format in your personal account area, including documents that we normally send as part of your paper
statements, such as certain Notices of Variation, Notices of Default Sums, Notices of Sums in Arrears and Annual Statements as part of your electronic statement.
You’ll continue to receive some documents and information by post, such as annual statements or any arrears notices.
To view your statements, click on the account name. You’ll be able to view monthly statements for the last 7 years.
You can search for specific transactions – for example, a purchase from a shop or a bill payment – up to 10 years old by clicking on ‘Search your statement’.
Change the order of your transactions: to see your latest transactions on the top or at the bottom of your statement, just click on the green triangle displayed next to the Date field. The order of your statement will flip.
Click on ‘View pending transactions’ to see card transactions which haven’t been processed yet and uncleared cheques.
You can print, download or export your transactions using the ‘Statement Options’ drop down at the top of your online personal current account statement or using the tools at the bottom of the statement for other product types.

Managing your online and paper preferences is easy. Just log on to your Internet Banking, in the ‘help and support’ section click the ‘show me’ button and then click Manage online and paper preferences(requires you to log on to Internet Banking) for a step-by-step guide to switch to paperless.
When you bank, shop or pay a bill, the information can form a picture of your spending and shopping habits. midata gives greater access to your personal data and the ability to use it, as it can be helpful when choosing suitable products and services.
A midata file shows your previous 12 months spending and banking history. It does not show any personal information like your name, address or date of birth.
To download a midata file, log on to your Internet Banking and select 'Download midata' under 'Your account tools' on Your accounts.
Uploading your midata file to financial comparison websites helps you make more informed decisions when shopping around for your ideal current account.
You should take the same care when using midata files as you normally would using any sensitive information online. Make sure that your anti-virus software is up to date, avoid using midata files on shared or public computers and always check that any third-party websites are genuine.
