Protecting and passing on your wealth

We all have different objectives in life and need different strategies to help achieve them. Our services are designed to help ensure you have adequate financial provisions for your family, charities or any dependants should the unexpected happen. We have over 100 years’ experience in the specialist areas of Trust Management and Estate Administration services, giving you the reassurance that we’ll take care of the details with the thoughtful, personal service you would expect from us.

As a Private Banking customer we can help you identify the options that most suit your needs.

The services and products below have individual terms and conditions. Fees and charges will apply.

Making a will

Making a will and keeping it up-to-date is the only way you can ensure that when you die, your wishes are clear. Dying without a will could leave your partner without any rights or protection if you’re not married. If you don’t have close family, your estate could pass to a distant relative you do not wish to benefit or do not know or even to the Crown.

The Will Writing Service aims to give you the peace of mind of knowing that everything is set out clearly in a legal document. If you already have a will, we can help you review it and would recommend that you do this at least every five years. The service is provided by Hugh James Solicitors who deliver a comprehensive range of services to customers in England and Wales. They will even store your will without charge. You will have the option to appoint Lloyds Bank plc as Executor and Trustee to your will. For customers who require a Will under Scottish Law, Hugh James will work together with Brodies LLP.

Administering an estate

Administering an estate when someone dies can be daunting, especially if you were close to the person who died. Our service is available where we are appointed as an executor under the terms of a will, where an existing executor does not feel able to act or where there is no will in place. You don’t have to be an existing customer to use the service.

We are experts in handling all the processes and paperwork so you don’t have to.

Setting up a trust

It might be the case that you have built up your wealth over the years, or perhaps you have had a windfall or inherited a sum of money. Whatever your individual circumstances, setting up a trust could be the right decision for the future with the added flexibility of tax efficiency. A trust can help you protect your wealth, making sure the people that matter to you most are the ones who benefit in a way that you want them to at the right time. Your Inheritance Tax liability depends on your individual circumstances. Your circumstances and tax rules may change in the future.

We are professional trustees and our Trust Management Service is provided by a team of experts who can act impartially on your behalf and design the right solution for you. You can appoint us to act as a trustee in your lifetime, or under the terms of your will. This service requires financial planning and advice, your Private Banking contact will introduce you to Schroders Personal Wealth to access this service.
