Taking a multi-manager approach to your investments is not simply another way to diversify; it allows us to be responsive to changing market conditions and take potential opportunities to generate extra returns.
To create our portfolios, we select managers on the basis that no single manager alone is likely to deliver the best outcome. We use a combination of single manager funds, with just one manager making the investment decisions, and multi-manager funds which use a number of managers to access a wider selection of investment ideas. By investing with specialist managers focused on a particular asset class rather than general managers, we also build in the expertise to help maximise the potential of each asset class within your portfolio.
This approach is very flexible. We retain overall control of your money, so if we are unhappy with a manager’s performance, we can replace them. We can also act quickly if market conditions change, or if alternative funds, assets or investment styles are identified that we believe may give more consistent returns.
To help us choose the right fund managers we work closely with Aberdeen Asset Management, one of Europe’s largest listed asset management firms. Aberdeen’s resources help us to select the right managers in each geographic area and asset class.
Our alliance with Aberdeen enables us to work with leading fund managers worldwide, including many not available to individual investors. All have been selected after extensive research has shown that they offer both quality and consistency of performance.
The value of investments and the income from them may fall as well as rise and cannot be guaranteed. Investors may not receive back the full amount originally invested.
