A spot transaction allows you to exchange one currency for another at the current exchange rate with settlement typically within 2 working days.

Who it's for

You can make Spot Foreign Exchange money transfers online if you've:

  • an Euro or US Dollar international current account
  • an international savings account.

How it works

  • Immediate conversion from one currency to another at the current exchange rate.
  • In most cases we can quote the foreign exchange rate and convert the money immediately.
  • If you are transferring funds outside Lloyds Banking Group the delivery time will depend on the speed of the receiving bank.
  • Where payments involve moving money from one currency to another and the exchange rate has not been booked changes in rates of exchange may occur and cause the value of the payment to go up or down.
  • Penalties may apply, dependent on account withdrawal restrictions.

Charges, fees and rates

Transfer charges

There is no charge for making or receiving international payments. However, correspondent and recipient bank charges may apply.

Transfers from your international accounts to your other accounts with Lloyds Banking Group are free of charge.

Foreign exchange charges

There are no foreign exchange charges for our Spot FX services.
