Our Islands Branch Review

Understanding the reasons for a closure

How we came to this decision

Like many other high street businesses, we’ve seen people using our branches less frequently in recent years as more customers choose to do most of their everyday banking online. We’re responding to the way our customers use our branches. We’ll continue to invest in our branch network, but we have to make sure our branches are where customers need and use them most.

As a result, we've made the difficult decision to close 3 of our Islands branches because customers are using them less often. In addition the majority of customers are also using alternative ways to bank. We’ve closed our Five Oaks (Jersey), St. Martins (Guernsey) and Alderney branches.

If you want to know more about how we’ve made the decision to close these branches, you can find the full Closing Branch Reviews on the links below. These Reviews also give more information on the ways you can bank with us.

We're here to help and support you

When making changes to our branch network, we always look to understand the impact on our customers – including how they continue to access banking services. We appreciate with the closure of the Alderney branch, our nearest alternative branches are in Guernsey, because of this, we plan to have a Community Banker placed in the area. They can:

  • Guide you through the ways you can bank with us.
  • Support with account enquiries for both personal and business customers.

We are in the process of setting up our Community Banker. Please check this page regularly for further details.
