London-based developer KNT Development is responding to growing demand for more energy‑efficient residential and commercial properties, while maintaining affordability and community value.

With the built environment accounting for a significant share of the UK’s carbon emissions, estimated at around a quarter1, KNT Development is focused on improving the performance of its developments and embedding practical efficiency measures across its portfolio.
To support this ambition, KNT needed a financing approach that would enable investment in renewable technologies and support long-term efficiency improvements.
Working with Lloyds, KNT Development accessed finance to support its investment in energy-efficient design and renewable technology. This enabled the business to move forward with plans to enhance building performance while managing costs and maintaining project viability. As part of this, KNT refinanced its Lee High Road development in Lewisham, supporting the next phase of its sustainability approach.

Alongside its focus on energy performance, the development also delivers wider benefits for the local area. It introduces new amenities, including a Sainsbury’s supermarket and a gym, helping to support the needs of local residents. KNT Development has also contributed to affordable housing in the borough, while incorporating biodiversity features such as green roofs and natural habitats to enhance the surrounding environment.
Through this approach, KNT Development is improving the energy efficiency of its developments while also reducing ongoing energy costs through on-site generation. At the same time, it is strengthening the long-term resilience of its assets and continuing to invest in the communities it serves through both infrastructure and local contributions. This supports the business’ broader ambition to deliver developments that balance performance, cost and community value.
KNT Development is continuing to invest in energy-efficient improvements across its pipeline, including a 48-unit residential scheme in Aldgate, alongside future developments in Hackney and Bermondsey.
