Asset finance solutions

  • Finance Lease is a flexible way to use assets while spreading the cost over an agreed term. At the end of the lease, you have the option to extend the lease, or request Lloyds to sell the asset to a third party with you receiving the majority of the sale proceeds.

Lloyds can fund up to 100% of the purchase price and VAT is paid on the rental payments, rather than the overall purchase price.

    Benefits

    • Deferred VAT payments: VAT is paid on your monthly repayments instead of the asset purchase price.
    • Operational benefits: Your business has day-to-day control of the asset and the economic benefits that it creates.
    • Capital allowances: You may be able to claim capital allowances for some finance leases.
    • Flexibility at term end: Options to extend, upgrade, or return assets give your business adaptability.
  • Operating Lease (or Residual Value Lease) can allow you to enjoy the economic benefits of an asset without the risk of owning it. This is ideal for businesses looking to minimise the impact of new purchases on their cash flow, or who need to use an asset for a fixed period of time.

    Benefits

    • Lower upfront costs: Often more cost effective with minimal initial outlay when compared to other standard debt solutions.
    • Asset refresh: Regular upgrades keep equipment modern without ownership risk.
    • Security and operational benefits: At the end of the finance agreement, you have the option to return the asset to Lloyds or to sell it on our behalf.

    How it works

    • You identify the asset you require and agree the price with the supplier.
    • Lloyds purchases the asset from the supplier or acquires it from you on a ‘Sale-and-Leaseback’ basis.
    • Lloyds builds in residual value − a forecasted future value of the asset − which reduces the capital and interest paid by you during the finance agreement.
  • Enables you to unlock tied-up cash flow by selling the contract for committed services or assets to Lloyds. This then releases working capital on a non-recourse basis, allowing you to drive future growth ambitions.

The ‘asset’ is the underlying contract receivable from a strong client credit counterparty transacting with your business.

    Benefits

    • Unlock working capital: Convert future receivables into immediate cash, improving liquidity and supporting business growth.
    • Balance sheet resilience: Ability to raise non-recourse traditional debt, whilst strengthening your balance sheet and reducing exposure. Subject to auditor's approval.
    • Competitive Pricing: Reflects the underlying credit strength of your contractual counterparty.

    Minimum criteria

    • Lloyds to take title to underlying assets where applicable.
    • Preference of direct payment from Receivable Payer to Lloyds.
    • Seller must be considered suitably strong from a credit perspective.
    • Maximum maturity of cash flows typically 10 years. Cash flow maturities in excess of 10 years may be considered depending on funding requirement.
    • Available currencies in GBP, EUR or USD.
  • Managing rising costs can be challenging, especially when it comes to Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) premiums and annual tax liabilities.

If you’re looking for ways to ease the pressure on your cash flow, flexible finance options can help. Instead of making a single large payment, you can spread the cost of your PII premiums over the year, turning a significant upfront expense into manageable monthly payments. This approach gives you greater control and predictability, helping you plan with confidence.

Key features of the Lloyds PII funding facility

    • Available to existing Lloyds clients who are Limited Liability Partnerships or Limited Companies.
    • Repayment period of up to 12 months.
    • Dedicated support team to ensure prompt set-up of agreement and quick response to queries.
    • Full supporting financial information is required to set up agreement.
    • Subject to a minimum advance in excess of £1m.

    Office Refurbishments

    • Upgrading your workspace can be a big investment, but it doesn’t have to put pressure on your cash flow.
    • Whether you’re refurbishing your premises or updating IT hardware and office equipment, our Asset Finance solutions can help you spread the cost over time while preserving your working capital. This means you can create the environment your team needs without compromising your financial flexibility.
    • Subject to client premises being freehold and underlying assets being new, tangible, movable and identifiable.
  • Making your business more sustainable is an important step – and we’re here to help.

If you’re planning to invest in green assets, you could benefit from discounted finance designed to support your sustainability goals. With Green Asset Finance, you can access an interest rate reduction of up to 0.25% when funding eligible ‘green’ assets, helping you manage your cash flow, while supporting your transition to a low carbon future.

Finance is available for a wide range of assets, including:

    • Electric vehicles and charging infrastructure
    • Agriculture equipment
    • Construction, industrial, and manufacturing machinery
    • Energy generation solutions

    Subject to eligibility criteria.

    More on Green Asset Finance

A flexible way to buy the latest key assets and equipment and spread the cost over their useful life. You obtain the right to use the asset immediately, paying instalments over time, with the option to purchase and take legal ownership of the asset at the end of the finance agreement.

The asset being purchased acts as Lloyds security for the facility, with Lloyd’s typically providing funding for 100% of the purchase price of the asset.

Benefits

  • Liquidity management: Free up working capital for day-to-day operations and growth.
  • Ownership certainty: Gain full ownership of the asset at the end of the term, providing long-term control and stability.
  • Asset access: Use high-value assets without the need for upfront purchase, preserving capital.
  • Predictable cash flow: Often fixed repayments to make budgeting and financial planning easier.

Pre-Hire

  • We may be able to finance staged payments to an asset supplier during a ‘pre-hire’ period of up to 12 months where your business incurs related build and commissioning costs.
  • The finance agreement would cover its build, commissioning and useful life.
  • Finance during this period may be subject to Lloyds taking security over other assets not already subject to security by a lender.
  • This solution preserves working capital before and after the asset begins generating economic benefits for your business.
