How it works 

1. Share

Log in to the mobile banking app and ‘Share link with a friend’.

You'll need to have a qualifying current account to be able to make the referral.

2. Join

Your friend then has 30 days to join Lloyds and open a current account by clicking the link.

This offer is only for new Lloyds customers, subject to approval. Student, Under 19s and Smart Start accounts aren't included.

3. Get paid

Ka-ching! You and your friend will pocket £50 each within 30 days of them signing up.

There's no limit to the number of friends who can be referred, but the maximum amount the referrer can be paid is £250 each calendar year.

  • For customers (‘referrers’) who want to refer a friend

    To benefit from this offer, you need to:

    • have any Lloyds current account except for an Under 19’s Account, Smart Start or Student Account.
    • use the link generated in the Lloyds mobile banking app to refer a friend who then opens a qualifying account.

    For friends and family members (‘friends’)

    To benefit from this offer, you need to:

    • be a brand-new Lloyds customer (no current account, savings account, credit card, loan or mortgage)
    • use the referral link to download the Lloyds mobile banking app and successfully open a new Lloyds current account
    • keep your new account open for a minimum of 7 days
    • open your new account in your sole name, as joint accounts aren’t included
    • have not already been paid under this Refer a Friend offer.

    How the payment works

    • Once the new account has been opened, we’ll pay £50 into the referrer’s oldest Lloyds current account (up to the £250 maximum) and the friend's new account.
    • Payments will appear as ‘cash credits’ and will be paid within 30 working days of the account being opened.
    • There’s no limit to the number of friends who can be referred, but the maximum amount the referrer can be paid is £250 per calendar year.

    What else you need to know

    • Once generated, each referral link lasts for 30 working days. If a referral link expires before it’s used, the referrer can generate a new one. The friend can still use an expired link to open a new account, but neither of you will receive a payment under this offer.
    • The offer is subject to change and we can withdraw it without notice at any time.
    • If we suspect any fraud or breach of the terms and conditions, we can either refuse to make payment or reverse payments already made.
    • Opening an account doesn’t automatically guarantee an arranged overdraft - overdraft applications are subject to status.
    • Lloyds Banking Group colleagues can apply so long as they meet the requirements.
    • Lloyds Under 19s Accounts, Smart Start and Student Accounts are excluded from this offer for both referrers and friends.
