Our Charitable Foundations

In the past 5 years, we have donated over £110 million to our Foundations.

The Lloyds Bank Foundations

Through grants, our Foundations focus on giving charities the funding they need to provide vital local services. As well as providing funding, our Foundations combine local knowledge and expertise to help charities to become more effective and financially sustainable. Our colleagues also offer practical support through skills-based volunteering programmes and sharing digital resources.

These same issues can affect our customers and colleagues. The Foundations share insights, expertise and best practice with us to help inform our customer and colleague products and propositions.

Working together to tackle important issues

Mental health

Improving peoples’ mental health in the UK is an important way for our four independent charitable Foundations to tackle social disadvantage. They provide vital funding to small and local charities, which allows them to support thousands of people to improve and manage their mental wellbeing, and help them to move on with their lives.

Domestic abuse

Domestic and economic abuse is a key business issue for Lloyds Banking Group; 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime. With 30 million customers and around 65,000 colleagues, many of our customers and colleagues will be living in a domestic abusive situation at any one time.

In 2022, our Foundations supported 52 domestic abuse charities, giving them over £2.6 million over the lifetime of their grants.

The Group also works in partnership with specialist charities our Foundations have supported, including Surviving Economic Abuse, Safe Lives and Tender. They have supported us to create a wide range of practical solutions to real issues for our customers and colleagues who are domestic abuse victims and survivors.

Refugees and asylum seekers

Migrants in general and refugees in particular are among the most vulnerable members of our society. As an organisation, supporting our communities is central to our purpose – whether this is through our charitable Foundations, where they provide support for refugee and asylum seeker projects throughout the UK or by providing access to banking solutions for vulnerable customers, including those who are identified as refugees.

Our charitable Foundations are now supporting over 70 small charities, with almost £4.5 million in grants to help thousands of refugees and asylum seekers from Ukraine, and across the world, with practical support to rebuild their lives in the UK. This could include immigration advice, welfare advice and support to integrate in their local community.

How our colleagues are helping

We go further to support the Foundations and the charities they help, with our colleagues sharing their skills and volunteering time as mentors and trustees.

Our colleagues are also able to claim up to £1,000 a year in matched giving for their fundraising and volunteering efforts. It is a great way for colleagues to support local charities that are important to them.

Latin American Women's Rights Service

Funding from the Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales has helped the Latin American Women's Rights Service resource innovative campaigns to support survivors of domestic abuse, and advocate for changes to the Domestic Abuse Bill.
