  • We’re here to help if you have, or expect to have, any money worries. If you are struggling with interest charges on an arranged overdraft or if you are in an unarranged overdraft, we will work with you to agree how we can best support you to reduce your debt in a manageable way.

We'll need to understand your income and outgoings so we can look at what support may be available to you after a financial assessment.

It’s helpful if you complete this budget planner ahead of calling us, to be best prepared for our conversation. If you have arrears with any other Banks or Credit providers, then you may want to seek independent advice as well as talking to us about options.  These options may include:

    A 30 day interest hold
We may be able to give you time and space to get some independent help and advice to work through your money worries, make sure your priority payments are up to date and complete your budget planner so that you are best prepared to discuss your options.  We won’t charge you interest during this period.

    Repayment Plans
We may be able to help you to start paying off any unarranged overdraft amount by setting up a repayment plan. This should get you back within your arranged overdraft limit or into credit within a period of 1-12 months. Setting up a repayment plan on your account can impact your ability to borrow in the future. We will explain to you any implications this may have on your credit file during the process.

At the end of the repayment plan, if your situation seems to be longer term, we may be able to explore the option of a consolidation loan with you. This would allow you to combine your debts into one affordable monthly repayment.

There are further lending restrictions with this option, as you will no longer be able to have an arranged overdraft or obtain other forms of credit from us for at least 12 months, subject to a credit worthiness assessment. Loan repayments can be made over a period of 1 to 7 years and rates vary. 9% APR representative.

    Representative example
You could borrow £7,000 at an Annual Interest Rate of 8.64% (fixed) over 48 months with 48 monthly repayments of £173.03.  The amount repayable will be £8,305.45. 9% APR representative.

    Close Account
The result of your financial assessment may indicate that you are no longer in a position to keep your accounts open. Where this is the case you may benefit from your accounts being permanently closed. When we close your accounts we may register a default with credit reference agencies, but we will also stop charging interest. We will also be able to agree a longer term repayment arrangement which will reduce your balances at a rate you can afford, leaving you with more disposable income.
