Why check your loan eligibility?
How the loan eligibility checker works
Let's break it down
Get a quote for a personal loan
Log in to get a personalised loan quote with no effect on your credit score. Just tell us how much you want to borrow, and over how long.
If you’re happy with your quote, you can complete a loan application and get a decision online. If approved, you could receive the money the same day.
Let’s look at the details
-
It can vary from lender to lender, based on the reference agencies they use. You don’t have just one credit score. Instead, each reference agency has different information about you and has their own way of scoring.
Lenders might use one reference agency or multiple to help risk assess and make their lending decisions. At Lloyds, the credit reference agencies we use include TransUnion, Experian and Equifax.
Keep in mind that your credit score is not the only factor we consider. Lenders might also look at your affordability, past account history and other details to see if you should be approved for credit.
If you’re worried about a low rating, there are things you can do to help improve your credit score.
-
A history of poor credit could affect you getting a loan. But there might be other lender-specific reasons. For example, if you’re under 18 years old or you’re not a UK resident, we might not be able to lend to you. So, it’s worth checking the lender’s criteria before you apply.
-
You can only get an unsecured personal loan with Lloyds. This means the loan is not secured against your home or other asset.
You can use this loan for a range of reasons. Some of the main uses include:
- car loans
- debt consolidation loans
- energy-efficient home improvements
- home improvement loans
- holiday loans
- wedding loans.
Already have a Lloyds personal loan? You might be able to borrow more, instead of applying for a second loan.
-
It depends on your personal circumstances when you apply. Lenders might consider factors like your debt-to-income ratio, credit score and existing borrowing.
If you have a mortgage, your borrowing commitments may be higher, which may be considered as part of any loan application. But you might still be able to get an unsecured loan.
Use the eligibility checker to find out if you could get a personal loan with Lloyds. Or explore some of the secured loan options.
