You can view, cancel and block regular subscription payments in our Mobile Banking app.
A subscription is a way to make frequent payments to a service provider. They’re often used for streaming services, payday loan repayments and gym memberships. You can set one up using your card details.
The service provider takes a payment from your debit or credit card when they think it’s due. You can see these payments in our Mobile Banking app.
Subscriptions are different to Direct Debits, where you would give your account number and sort code.
Subscriptions can also be called recurring card payments, Continuous Payment Authorities or CPAs.

Sometimes, we can’t cancel a subscription. If that happens, we can block your payments so you won’t pay the service provider any more money. It takes up to 24 hours for a block to work. You should ask your service provider to cancel your subscription too.
Here’s a step by step guide to view a subscription in our app.
Some companies won’t let us cancel for you. If that happens, we’ll still block the payments but you’ll need to contact the service provider to cancel the subscription. We’ll let you know if we couldn’t cancel something.
We won’t be able to cancel a subscription if:
- Any of the details are wrong, missing, or don’t match what you gave the other company. You’ll need to contact them to cancel it. We’ll be able to block the payments if you contact us.
- It’s not in your name. The person who set it up can still cancel it in our app, or contact us to block payments.
- If you’ve agreed to pay for a service until a certain date, we can’t cancel it early. You should contact the company to see if you can cancel it.
A block on payments can take 24 hours to set up. If you block payments less than a day before the next one is due, it may still go through. We’ll block any payments after this though.
Once you’ve asked us to cancel a subscription, you can’t stop the process in our app. You’ll need to contact us.
You should also contact the service provider to make sure your subscription keeps going.
