How to send money outside the UK using Internet Banking or Mobile App?

This step-by-step guide shows you how to send money outside the UK using Internet Banking or our Mobile Banking App.

You'll need to have the following information to hand:

  • The recipient's name and address (exact full name or company name)
  • Name and address of the recipient's bank - (exact full name)
  • The recipient's IBAN (International Bank Account Number) or account number
  • For payments to the UK and EEA countries, the BIC (Bank Identifier Code) / SWIFT code / clearing code

If you have a current account with us and you're registered for Internet Banking, you can simply log on to send money outside the UK.

    1. Tap the ‘three dots’ in the top right corner of the account you’d like to send the payment from.
    2. Tap ‘Send money outside the UK’.
    3. If you are sending money to someone you've paid before choose 'Select an international recipient’. if you’re paying someone for the first time, select ‘Pay someone new’ 
    4. Type in how much currency you'd like to send.
    5. Click on the flag icon if you prefer to send money in a different currency to our standard currency for the recipient's country
    6. Select 'Continue' to review payment details. 
    7. Select 'Confirm Payment' to complete the payment request. You may be asked to input your password for security purposes. If you're sending money to a new recipient you may be asked to verify the transaction through a phone call so have your phone to hand.

  1. Select ‘More actions’ on the account you want to make the payment from.
  2. Select ‘Payments and transfers’.
  3. Select ‘Send money outside the UK’.
  4. If you are sending money to someone you've paid before choose 'Select an international recipient’. if you’re paying someone for the first time, select ‘Pay someone new’ 
  5. Type in how much currency you'd like to send.
  6. Click on the flag icon if you prefer to send money in a different currency to our standard currency for the recipient's country
  7. Select 'Continue' to review payment details.
