Proving your identity
We need you to prove your identity if you are a new customer opening a new account with us. Existing customers may also need to prove their identity when opening additional accounts.
What can you use to prove your identity?
Applying for a current account?
Using our mobile app to apply is safe and secure, in most cases you will only need 1 of the following:
- a UK or non-UK passport
- a current UK photo driving licence.
Proving your identity for other accounts and in branch
In most cases you will only need to show us 1 of the following:
- a current UK photo driving licence
- a passport from the United Kingdom.
If you're an existing customer, you can use your existing bank card with chip and PIN to verify your identity.
If you can't show us 1 of the items mentioned, you'll need to bring 2 documents - 1 to prove your identity and 1 to prove your address. The following table lists documents we accept for each.
