Let's break it down
Gadget insurance is designed to cover devices owned by you or family members who live with you in the event of theft, accidental damage and breakdown.
How it works
- Our 3rd party supplier Assurant General Insurance Limited already provide the mobile phone insurance for our packaged bank accounts.
- You can apply directly to them for a gadget insurance policy to cover items such as smart watches, laptops, tablets, wireless earphones and digital cameras all for a single additional monthly premium.
- The Assurant Gadget Cover Plus policy also covers loss.
- These policies don't cover mobile phones and drones.
Who's it for?
You can apply for gadget insurance if you have a Club Lloyds, Lloyds Premier or Lloyds packaged bank account (this includes Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Premier current accounts).
You must also be a UK resident.
Assurant will check if you can be covered at the point of sale. Your first monthly direct debit will need to be paid from your Lloyds packaged bank account.
You should review any existing cover before deciding whether to apply.

-
This includes your partner or spouse, or any other relative who lives at the same address as the policyholder within the UK.
It also includes relatives who are students and who temporarily live away from home during term time.
-
- If the gadget is damaged or breaks down, Assurant will either repair or replace it.
- If the gadget is stolen, Assurant will replace it.
- Replacements will come from fully refurbished stock (not brand new).
You need to pay an excess for each device you claim for. You should consider the excess (£100 for laptops and £50 any other gadgets) if you have a basic gadget to judge if the policy meets your needs.
-
Yes, a 12-month warranty is provided by Assurant.
-
No, you don’t have to register them.
If you do, it will be easier to make a claim if something goes wrong.
-
The insurance policy will renew monthly, unless you or the insurer cancel, or you fail to pay the monthly premium.
You can stop the insurance at any time.
-
Gadgets are portable electronic devices with their own power source. Such as smart watches, laptops, tablets, wireless earphones and digital cameras.
They need to support multimedia apps or downloading multimedia content. This might be running apps from an app store, taking pictures, playing music or videos, or using GPS.
Items that need to be continuously plugged into another electrical appliance or the mains electrical supply to work are not covered.
For example:
- televisions
- monitors
- satellite
- cable TV receivers
- games consoles (Xbox, PlayStation etc.)
- wireless routers.
If you are unsure contact Assurant for more information.
Should you need to claim, there's a £100 excess on laptops and £50 for all other gadgets (for each claimed device).
-
This insurance offers cover if a gadget is stolen, accidentally damaged or breaks down, including if its faulty. There's also cover for loss if you choose Assurant Gadget Cover Plus.
This insurance does not provide cover for gadgets that you bought over 5 years ago.
If you need to claim, there's a £100 excess on laptops and £50 for all other gadgets (for each claimed device).
-
If you already have insurance that offers the same or similar benefits as this gadget insurance, remember:
- you won’t be able to make the same claim twice
- you’ll pay more than you need to
- your existing policy may have different exclusions or levels of cover.
For example, in the event of loss, theft or damage to baggage during a trip, valuables are covered up to £500 for any single item under the packaged bank account travel insurance policy. Also check any home insurance policy you may have.
