Paying in cash

  • You can pay in both notes and coins at a Post Office® counter.
  • Cash deposit limits vary. You should check the cash deposit limit at the Post Office® you intend to use.

Paying in cash using your debit card

  • Use your debit card and PIN to pay cash into your account.
  • Once your deposit is counted and a receipt issued, you will have instant access to your money.
  • You can pay in up to £2,995 cash a month over Post Office counters using your debit card and PIN (If your account’s joint you can each pay in up to £2,995).

Paying in cash using a paying-in slip

  • If you do not have a debit card for your account or if you prefer to, you can still use a pre-printed paying-in slip to pay cash in. As paying-in slips are personalised, you must present your own slip with your cash.
  • The maximum amount of cash you can pay in as a single deposit using your paying-in slip is £1,000.
  • Paying-in slips can be ordered at a Lloyds Bank branch or over the telephone.
  • When you use a paying-in slip the funds will show in your account, and will be available for you to use from the day we receive them from the Post Office®. This will usually be the next working day.

Paying in cheques

  • When you pay in a cheque you must use a cheque envelope and a paying-in slip.
  • Paying-in slips can be ordered at a Lloyds Bank branch or over the telephone.
  • Cheque envelopes can be found at any Lloyds Bank branch or the Post Offices®.
  • Cheques paid in at a Post Office® will take at least one additional working day to credit your account.
  • Lloyds Bank will always process cheques in line with the cheque clearing cycle.

If you're paying in cash and cheques at the same time, you must use separate paying-in slips for each element. You will also need a cheque deposit envelope for the cheques.

Important information

Every Post Office® branch has different cut-off times for paying in cash and for paying in cheques. If you deposit after the cut-off time an additional working day to processing times where relevant will apply.

Please check at the Post Office® you want to use what the relevant cut-off time is, for the type of deposit you wish to make. If you are paying in cash using a debit card, you can do so during opening hours of the branch you are using

Coin denominations below £1 – only full coin bags will be accepted per the amounts specified on the bags. £1 and £2 coins will still be accepted in partial bags as long as the denominations are separate. The maximum amount of coins that you can pay in for any single deposit is £250.

Services described above are available during opening hours on working days at any branch of the Post Office® within England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, excluding those in the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.

  • You can check your balance and withdraw cash at any Post Office® counter. All you need is your debit card and PIN.
  • You can withdraw up to £300 per day from your current account and these withdrawals are free.
