You can get cash in an emergency (provided you have enough funds available in your account) by calling:

Lost or stolen Travellers Cheques

If your American Express® Travellers Cheques are lost or stolen, you’ll find the number of the local American Express® office in the wallet that your Travellers Cheques came in. Or you can call the American Express® helpline on +44 1273 571 600 or 01273 693 555 from the UK.

You can also get cash in an emergency (provided you have enough funds in your account) by calling:

  • +44 1702 278 270 if you’re calling from abroad.
  • 0345 300 0000 if you’re calling from the UK. 8am – 8pm, seven days a week
    Not all Telephone Banking services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

You'll need to:

  • Report all facts about the loss or theft to the police if American Express® asks you to.
  • Give American Express® the serial number of the lost or stolen Travellers Cheques and the place and date you bought them.
  • Complete the refund forms provided by American Express® and provide acceptable proof of your identity.

American Express® may investigate the loss or theft, so you’ll need to give them all the information they ask for.
