If your credit card, debit card or Travellers Cheques are lost or stolen while you’re abroad, help is just a phone call away. Here are the numbers to call. Please make sure you call us immediately to report lost or stolen cards and Travellers Cheques.

Lost or stolen Travellers Cheques
If your American Express® Travellers Cheques are lost or stolen, you’ll find the number of the local American Express® office in the wallet that your Travellers Cheques came in. Or you can call the American Express® helpline on +44 1273 571 600 or 01273 693 555 from the UK.
You can also get cash in an emergency (provided you have enough funds in your account) by calling:
- +44 1702 278 270 if you’re calling from abroad.
- 0345 300 0000 if you’re calling from the UK. 8am – 8pm, seven days a week
Not all Telephone Banking services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
You'll need to:
- Report all facts about the loss or theft to the police if American Express® asks you to.
- Give American Express® the serial number of the lost or stolen Travellers Cheques and the place and date you bought them.
- Complete the refund forms provided by American Express® and provide acceptable proof of your identity.
American Express® may investigate the loss or theft, so you’ll need to give them all the information they ask for.
