Let's break it down

Who it's for

You can apply for this card if you:

  • are a UK resident aged 18 or over
  • have a regular income
  • don't have a history of bad credit, such as bankruptcy, Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA) or County Court Judgments (CCJs)
  • haven't been declined for a Lloyds credit card in the last 30 days.

Good to know

Aim to repay your balance before any introductory rates expire. After that, your standard account interest rates will apply to any remaining balance.

Large purchase credit card features may vary. Make sure you understand all limitations, terms and conditions before you apply.

Before you go ahead

Ask yourself

  • Does a credit card suit my needs, or should I consider other borrowing options?
  • Will I be able to make repayments, even if my circumstances change?

In addition to fees and charges, you could lose any promotional rates if you don’t meet the terms of your account. For example, if you don’t make at least the minimum payment on time each month. If a promotional rate is withdrawn or simply expires, the standard account interest rates, fees and charges will apply.

Let’s look at the details

  • A large purchase credit card could help you to manage the cost of bigger purchases or projects.

  • Large purchase credit cards typically offer a promotional interest rate on eligible card purchases. This could help you to spread the repayments on larger planned purchases, or expensive projects.

A standard advantage to using a credit card to make large purchases is Section 75 protection. Most single item purchases of over £100 and up to £30,000 may be covered if something goes wrong.

Just be aware, you may need to make qualifying transactions within a set number of days from account opening. After that, the standard account interest rate would apply to further card purchases. Terms may vary, so always check any offer details carefully.

Standard interest rates will also apply to any remaining balance once your promotional rates end.

Bear in mind that standard interest rates are typically much higher.

Before using a credit card, make sure you understand when interest and other charges may apply

  • Providing you don’t go over your credit limit, you can use a credit card for most things.

Just bear in mind that, whenever you use a credit card, interest and other charges may apply.

It’s also worth knowing that carrying a high credit card balance could affect your credit score over time.

If you do make a large purchase, make sure you focus on repaying your balance as quickly as you can. That will also help you to minimise any borrowing costs.

Before you reach for your credit card to make a purchase, consider what you can reasonably afford to repay, and if you could wait and save up instead.

  • Draft credit card account terms and conditions (PDF, 382KB)

We'll send you a full set of terms and conditions specific to you once you’ve been accepted for the credit card.

  • Responsible lending

Lloyds is a responsible lender. We only want you to borrow what you can afford, in a way that’s best for you. The outcome of your credit card application depends on our assessment of your circumstances.

You can talk to a member of our team about the choices you've made. They’ll also be able to talk to you about your options if you’re experiencing financial difficulties.

    A note on fraud

You won't have to pay us for any unauthorised postal, telephone or internet transactions made by someone other than you or an additional cardholder. However you and additional cardholders must take all reasonable measures to protect your account.

You should never tell anyone your PIN. You can give suppliers your card details and won’t be liable if they misuse them. However if you’ve given someone else your card details, you’re liable for all transactions unless you’ve told us they’re not authorised.
