Sending money from outside the UK or in a foreign currency

We do not charge our fee for sending payments in euro. Our fee for all other payments is £9.50**. If you share the charges for sending money outside the UK or in a foreign currency with the recipient, you will only pay our fee and the recipient will pay their bank’s fees and any agent bank charges that apply.
Since leaving the EU, agent bank charges may also now apply to the following payments:
- to EEA countries (in pounds or EEA currencies), and
- within the UK in an EEA currency.
For the full amount to be received by the recipient’s bank, you may be able to choose to pay both our fee and all agent bank charges. As we explain in the ‘Our fees’ section you can only request do this for some types of payments made through our branches and telephone banking.
If you choose to pay both our fee and all agent bank charges, you will pay our fee and the Correspondent Bank Fee that replaces all agent bank charges. The recipient bank may still charge its customer a fee but we cannot provide information about such a fee. The amount of the Correspondent Bank Fee depends on the location of the recipient bank:

**This fee will not apply to payments sent in pounds from our Basic Account or to payments from an account held with Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets plc. This fee will not apply to payments sent in any currency other than pounds from a Mayfair Private Banking Service account.

You can use the online payment calculator to see our standard exchange rate, which may change depending on how much you send.
If you key in an amount without selecting or keying in a new recipient, you will only receive a payment illustration and not the actual exchange rate the payment will be sent at.
If you select or key in a new recipient first, you can continue your payment with the exchange rate displayed.
Before your payment is confirmed online though, the final payment details and exchange rate will always be shown.

Money will only be taken from your account once we have processed your payment.
Payments made before 3pm on a business day will be debited that same day. For payments made on or after 3pm on a business day, or at any time on a non-business day, your account will be debited on the next business day.

You can make a payment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, but it will only be processed during normal banking hours.
Money will only be taken from your account once we have processed your payment.
Payments made before 3pm on a business day will be debited that same day. For payments made on or after 3pm on a business day, or at any time on a non-business day, your account will be debited on the next business day.

Sorry, you can’t change or cancel your payment transaction request online. Please call the International Helpdesk on 0345 300 0101 as soon as possible, Monday-Friday, 8.30am-5pm.
We can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to change or cancel the transaction. If we are able to change or cancel it for you, you may lose money through the differences in exchange rates.
Receiving money from outside the UK or in a foreign currency

We will only change your payment into pounds when we receive your payment from the sending bank. Until then, the exchange rate is indicative, for information only and can change at any time. Learn more about our standard exhange rate, or for an indication of the exchange rate you may receive, contact your local branch or call us on 0345 300 0000. Lines are open 8am – 8pm, seven days a week.
Not all Telephone Banking services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. -
Sometimes the bank sending the payment may use an agent bank to pass the payment on to Lloyds Bank. The agent bank may make a charge for their service, which will reduce the amount of the payment Lloyds Bank receives.
The amount we receive is then converted into pounds using our standard exchange rate, and where applicable, we will take our fee before crediting your account

Once a payment has been sent in euro from a bank within the EEA, it should be in your account by the end of the following working day.
We cannot control when we will receive payments not in euro or from outside of the EEA as this depends on when and how the sending bank sends the payment to us. However when we do receive it, we will convert it into pounds, take our fee where applicable and credit your account as soon as possible.

Please contact the sender of the money and ask them to contact the bank sending the money so they can trace the payment.
