Cover for specified items
Specified items are items worth more than £2,000 each that you need to name individually on your policy. These could include things like laptops, TVs, jewellery or bikes. You don’t need to tell us about home appliances and furniture that isn’t antique.
You can choose to cover these items in your home, or both in and away from your home.
For items worth more than £2,000 each, there’s a £40,000 individual item limit. The total limit for all specified items is £100,000.
Terms, limits and exclusions apply to all levels of cover.

To help you work out how much the contents in your home are worth:
- Think about your contents in each room. Include things in outbuildings and within the boundaries of your property. Don't include fixtures and fittings such as bathroom suites or your fitted kitchen – these won’t be covered by your contents insurance policy
- Estimate how much they’re worth. It helps to look online at how much it would cost to buy each item now if you had to replace it
- Add up the values. The total is an estimated value for your possessions, which you can use to decide how much insurance cover you need.
Additional features and optional extras
The level of cover you need will be individual to you. Check what’s included with our Bronze, Silver and Gold levels of cover, and which optional extras you could add.
-

So, if a drink spills on your carpet, you’re covered. We’ll pay to repair the damage or replace your things.
-

What's covered as standard with Lloyds
Whether you choose our Bronze, Silver or Gold level, cover includes:
- A safe place to stay if your home isn't fit to live in due to a claim. We'll pay the extra cost for you, your family and your household pets to stay somewhere similar
- We'll repair or replace items in your home damaged by things like flood, fire, storm or vandalism, or replace items stolen from your home
- Locks and keys are also covered. We’ll pay the cost of changing the locks to outside doors at your home if your keys are lost or stolen
- Contents in outbuildings and in the open at your home are covered under all levels of cover
- Bikes at your home are also covered as standard
- Repairs carried out by our approved tradespeople are guaranteed for at least 12 months
- Always here to help – our UK-based emergency helpline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What isn’t covered?
There are some things that our contents insurance doesn’t cover:
- Items held or used for business reasons, other than home office equipment and furniture
- Theft from your home while anyone other than you and your family are staying there. However, we'll pay claims if force and violence was used to access/exit your home
- Damage that happens as something gets older, known as 'wear and tear'. Most things in your home will suffer from this eventually
- A claim as a result of a deliberate, malicious or unlawful act by you or your family.
Set an excess amount to suit you
Your excess is the amount you'll pay towards the cost of most types of claim. You can choose your own excess between £100 and £500. A higher excess means your cover will cost less, but you'll have to pay more towards a claim. The excess you will have to pay for some claims will be lower than your chosen excess.
With Bronze and Silver cover, there is a different excess for leaking water claims.

Making a claim
If you’re an existing home insurance customer, you can make a claim online or by phone. To save you any additional stress, we’ll do all we can to process your claim quickly.
Let’s look at the details
-
Your policy documents will show the start date of your policy. If any loss or damage happened before that date, you’ll need to speak to your previous insurance provider.
If something happens after that date, then you can make a claim straight away. It’s just worth checking your policy documents first to make sure that type of claim is covered.
We’ll need information about the items which have been damaged or stolen, so please give as much detail as possible. That way, we can get to work on your claim as soon as possible.
Terms, limits and exclusions apply to all levels of cover.

No, contents insurance doesn’t cover these. To cover your home fixtures and fittings, you’ll need to take out buildings insurance. This would cover the cost of repairing damage or replacing things like a fitted kitchen or bathroom in your home.
Terms, limits and exclusions apply to all levels of cover.

There are a few types of home insurance, the main ones being:
- Contents insurance – This covers the things in your home you would pack up and take with you if you moved. These can include things like furniture, clothing, electronic goods, carpets and curtains. Cover is for damage or loss caused by things like fire, flood, storm and theft.
- Buildings insurance – covers the structure of your home and its fixtures and fittings if they are damaged by events like flood, fire or storm
- Combined buildings and contents insurance – covers both buildings and contents under one policy. This could be simpler than applying for two separate policies.
