What are you looking for in a credit card?

Whether you’re searching for your first credit card, or a new card to meet your changing needs, we could help.

  • Convenience – credit cards offer a flexible way to borrow and spread your repayments.
  • Benefits to suit you – whether you want a credit card for purchases, consolidating credit and store card debts, earning rewards or to access travel benefits.
  • Build credit – using and managing a credit card responsibly can help to build your credit score over time.

Before using credit, it’s important to consider your borrowing options and what you can realistically afford to repay. Things like carrying high debt balances, missing payments and going over your credit limit could negatively impact your credit score.

Credit is available subject to status.

Is a credit card right for me?

Application basics

To qualify, you need to:

  • be a UK resident
  • be aged 18 or over
  • have a regular income.

You should know

You won’t qualify if you:

  • are unemployed or a student
  • have bankruptcies on your credit file
  • have County Court Judgements (CCJs)
  • have Individual Voluntary Agreements (IVAs)
  • have been declined for a Lloyds credit card within the last 30 days.

Before you go ahead:

  • Does a credit card suit my needs, or should I consider other borrowing options?
  • Will I be able to make repayments, even if my circumstances change?

In addition to fees and charges, you could lose any promotional rates if you don’t meet the terms of your account. For example, if you don’t make at least the minimum payment on time each month. If that happens, the standard account interest rates, fees and charges will apply.

Our standard credit card features

  • Manage most things online: check your balance, review transactions, view paper-free statements, make payments, request transfers and more.
  • Fraud protection: you won’t be charged for transactions you didn’t authorise. But you must let us know if you notice unusual account activity, or if you lose your card.
  • Ways to pay: make repayments by bank transfer, debit card or direct debit. Pay more than the minimum at any time to reduce your borrowing costs.
  • Contactless cards: pay quickly and securely anywhere you see the contactless symbol.
  • Mobile payments: add your credit card to a mobile device to make secure payments online, and on the go.
  • UK call centres: we’re just a phone call away – here for emergencies.
